NEW YORK -- These Birds don't rattle easily.
A day after a demoralizing defeat, the Baltimore Orioles won a test of wills and Game 4 of the AL division series, bouncing back to outlast the New York Yankees 2-1 in 13 innings Thursday night on J.J. FROM ELIAS
The Orioles-Yankees series is the 3rd series in postseason history to feature back-to-back games of at least 12 innings.
The other 2 were Games 5 and 6 of the 1986 NLCS between the Mets and Astros (12 innings and 16 innings), and Games 4 and 5 of the 2004 ALCS between the Red Sox and Yankees (12 innings and 14 innings).
In both cases, the team that won the first of those games (Mets and Red Sox respectively) won the second as well. | ||||||||||||||||||
