Daniels might play before end of Finals

LOS ANGELES -- Just before Thursday night’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers deemed his squad in just about full health for the start of the series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

"Everybody is good," said Rivers. "Everybody is healthy, feels good, rested, and ready to play. There's no issues on our end."

Rivers clarified that Marquis Daniels, who suffered a concussion in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Magic, remains out for the start of this series, but expressed hope he would be back before the Finals conclude.

"He actually did drills [Wednesday], had feeling again, so, yeah, I do think he'll be ready," said Rivers. "Before the series is over, I think Marquis will be playing."

The Celtics' primary injury concern is Rasheed Wallace, who tweaked his back in Game 5 of the Magic series, then departed early in the fourth quarter of the series-clinching Game 6 triumph.

"I don't anticipate any problems," Rivers said of Wallace. "We are worried about conditioning a little bit. When you miss that many days in a row, even though you do bike work and stuff, I will watch that more than his actual injury. If he just tires quickly, especially the first stint just because of the adrenaline. But other than that I think he'll be fine."

Wallace skipped the contact portion of practice at the start of the week, but participated in all activities Wednesday. He seemed to be moving around fine as he arrived at the Staples Center alongside Kevin Garnett and dressed in the locker room.
