Providence, R.I. -- Providence guard Marshon Brooks had 27 points and eight rebounds, paving the way for a 77-72 victory over Northeastern on Wednesday night.
The Huskies (2-3) jumped out to an 11-2 lead, and controlled the game for the first 10 minutes. After shooting 10-for-12 from the field in the first 8 minutes, Northeastern found itself ahead 31-20.
Providence (7-1) then put together a 15-6 run that cut the lead to two at halftime.
Northeastern stretched its lead to six points, but the Friars' 10-2 run midway through the half put Providence in front 55-51, and Northeastern did not lead again.
