We recently caught up with Bruins right winger Michael Ryder on what he was up to during the summer and what he's looking forward to now that the season has arrived:

Q: What was the most fun you had this summer?

Michael Ryder: Playing golf back home. We had a Ryder Cup-type tournament set up against two golf courses, and it's the first time I was involved in it. It was a lot of fun.

Q: Where did you vacation?

Ryder: I went to Florida for a week with a couple buddies on a little golf trip. That was pretty much the only spot I went to this summer.

Q: Who will win the World Series?

Ryder: It's going to be a tough one. I would have to say it will either be the Yankees or Red Sox, I think.

Q: Who will win the Super Bowl?

Ryder: I'm going to have to go with my Eagles on that one.

Q: Best and worst part of training camp?

Ryder: Best part is just getting back and trying to get back into the swing of things. The worst is going through that one day of physicals and fitness tests.

Q: Which teammate were you most excited to catch up with?

Ryder: Have to say my roommate on the road, [Mark] Stuart.

Q: Whom on the team do you hang out with the most?

Ryder: I hang out with a lot of guys; [Shawn] Thornton, I hang out with Stuart because he's my roommate, probably those two the most. On the road is when we get to hang out mostly. We go to movies or go to dinner.

Q: Which teammate did you talk to the most on the phone this summer?

Ryder: I don't really talk, I just send text messages. So I text with a few guys, [Dennis] Wideman, [Milan] Lucic, text Stuart there a couple times and [Marc] Savard.

Q: Which teammate has looked really sharp out there on the ice?

Ryder: [Patrice] Bergeron has. I think [after] last year with his injury [second concussion in two seasons], taking time to get back into it, he had a full summer of training. I think he looks good so far this year.

Q: Who came into camp in the best condition?

Ryder: Z [captain Zdeno Chara] looks like he's in good shape. He always looks like he's in good shape. When we see him do chin-ups, it's pretty impressive.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this season?

Ryder: To have a better season than last season. The season was good, just the way it ended wasn't. We've just got to make sure we have a better finish.
