NEWTON, Mass. -- Freshman Isaac Taylor scored the golden goal -- the first score of his collegiate career -- to lift Boston College to a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Dartmouth in the first round of the 2009 NCAA men's soccer tournament Thursday night.

Taylor's goal came from 23 yards out on a half volley and was assisted by classmate Colin Murphy in the 103rd minute.

"Colin Murphy headed the ball into the top of the box and I ran in and lowered my foot," Taylor said of the winning goal. "It came off my foot well and ended up in the back of the net."

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Luthy made six saves in the match to improve to 12-7-0 on the season.

BC's second-round game will be at St. John's Sunday at 6 p.m.
