Source: Patriots sign tackle Sands
With defensive tackle Vince Wilfork's status uncertain because of an ankle injury, the New England Patriots signed former Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Terdell Sands Monday, a source said.

Wilfork has a sprained left ankle, according to multiple media reports.
To make room for Sands on the roster, the Patriots released linebacker Prescott Burgess, whom they recently acquired in a conditional trade with the Baltimore Ravens.
The 29-year-old Sands was with the Raiders from 2003 through this past training camp. The 335-pounder had 13 starts during time career with the Raiders.
