The New England Patriots continue to stockpile momentum, wins and all stars.
This week, the Patriots are expected to sign 12-time Pro-Bowl linebacker Junior Seau, according to an NFL source.
Seau visited the Patriots last week and the two sides laid the groundwork for a deal to be completed this week that will allow the former Pro Bowl linebacker to play his 20th NFL season.
"He did have a physical. We haven't done anything yet. Is it a possibility? Yes," Patriots coach Bill Belichick told Boston radio station WEEI-AM on Monday.
"There is nobody like Junior. His attitude is everything, what he brings in terms of his enthusiasm, his style, his commitment," Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Monday in his weekly appearance on WEEI. "It's a great presence for everybody -- for all the players, all the coaches. There is nobody that approaches the game like he does. He's a huge asset to our team. He's an incredible player and leader. I think everybody's excited to have him."
Belichick said he noticed the 12-time Pro Bowl player was "doing some bull riding, bull stomping, or some bulls were stomping him." Seau was hit by a bull on his television show "Sports Jobs" on the Versus network.
Asked if he thought the 40-year-old Seau could still contribute, Belichick joked he'd have to see how Seau looked with the bull.
Last year, Seau returned to the Patriots in December. Barring some unexpected development, the 40-year-old Seau will return to New England even sooner this season.
Seau has accounted for 1,515 tackles, 17 fumble recoveries, 18 interceptions, and 56½ sacks in his career.
