New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot Jan. 20, was back on the football field Thursday for a workout that included throwing, a source confirmed.

Brady's progress from surgery was spotlighted Friday when Flynet photographs -- which showed Brady wearing a backwards cap, black athletic pants and a gray shirt during his workout in Los Angeles -- hit the Internet.

Brady had been wearing a walking boot after the surgery, but obviously didn't wear one during his throwing session. Doctors had estimated that Brady could be in a walking boot for up to six weeks after the surgery, while noting that he should be ready for the start of training camp in late July.

Brady, who is a lead plaintiff in the antitrust suit that players have filed against the NFL, was the league's Most Valuable Player in 2010. He threw 36 touchdowns and four interceptions, setting the NFL record for consecutive regular-season passes without an interception (335). He enters his 12th season in 2011.
