Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk will be out approximately four weeks after suffering a slight fracture to his left forearm, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced Sunday.

Boychuk was injured in the first period of the Bruins 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday when he took a Brandon Dubinsky slash to the hand/wrist area early in the first period. He attempted to come back later in the period but was unable to play through the pain and didn't return for the second and third periods.

Boychuk has three assists in six games with Boston this season. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Bruins in June.
