"Bob will start in net for us tonight," Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette revealed before the game. "Brian [Boucher] had come in and played really well, he came in and pinch hit for Bob early on and played really well for us. But we find ourselves down three here and Bob has come off the bench a couple of times [this series] and looked good. We are getting him back in there tonight."
Boucher had started the three previous games, but was pulled three times, including once due to a hand injury.
Veteran Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger (undisclosed injury) did not play in Game 4.
The Flyers trail the Bruins 3-0 in the best-of-seven series. Philadelphia was in the same situation a year ago and came back to win the series.
"We didn't try to get to this point so that we could try to climb out of it again," Laviolette said pregame. "We certainly wish we were in a different situation, a different scenario, but we are not. Our objective is to win one game.
"You listen around, everybody has written us off completely already. Our team has won a lot of hockey games, I don't think it's unimaginable for us to beat the Boston Bruins in one game. So that's our objective, we just keep it simple. We have one game to play and we need to win it. We have a lot of confidence in our group that we can do it."
Meanwhile, injured Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid skated Friday morning for the first time since suffering a neck strain in Game 2 at Philadelphia.
McQuaid was injured in the waning minutes of the first period last Monday at Wells Fargo Center when he slammed headfirst into the boards. He was taken to the hospital and returned to Boston with the team later that night.
Coach Claude Julien said that McQuaid is progressing better than expected, but he was not in the lineup for Game 4 Friday night at TD Garden.
