BOSTON -- The Boston Athletic Association's inaugural 10K race will feature the top three finishers from the world's fastest marathon.

Kenya's Moses Mosop and Ethiopia's Gebre Gebremariam have signed up for the June 26 race. They join Geoffrey Mutai, who finished this year's Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds -- the fastest anyone has ever completed the 26.2-mile distance.

Mosop was four seconds behind, which was also faster than the world record. However, the Boston course is ineligible for world records because it is a straight line and not a loop.

This year's women's winner, Caroline Kilel of Kenya, will also be back for the 10K.

The race begins and ends at Boston Common. Winners will split up a total purse of $30,000.
