Mike Turner commits to Northwestern

Chicago University High senior forward Mike Turner committed to Northwestern basketball on Sunday.

Turner picked the Wildcats over Harvard, Penn and Valparaiso.

"I chose Northwestern because of the mix of academics and athletics," Turner said. "You can't beat the prestigiousness of the academic side and the Big Ten side of the athletics. It was everything I was looking for."

Turner, who is 6-8 and 195 pounds, is expected to be a versatile forward at the college level. ...
