Source: Cubs interested in James Loney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Trying to fill a major void at first base, the Chicago Cubs have had a few conversations with the Los Angeles Dodgers about left-handed hitter James Loney, according to a major league source.

The Cubs first inquired about Loney at the general managers meetings on Nov. 15-17, according to the source. At that time the Cubs were told that the Dodgers were not moving Loney.
