Randy Wells to start throwing Friday

CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs pitchers Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner have been given clearance to begin throwing programs on Friday after being examined by a physician on Monday.

Wells is expected to be the first of the two back on the mound.

"I'd probably say two weeks," Wells said. "I don't know ... I've never been through something like this before.
