Doug Davis strong in minor start

Doug Davis made his first start since signing with the Chicago Cubs, throwing 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball on Thursday for Class A Daytona.

Davis, who signed with the Cubs in April after Andrew Cashner and Randy Wells went on the disabled list, is scheduled to make his next start for Triple-A Iowa early next week.

There's no timetable on when Davis, who is coming back from elbow surgery, will join the big league team. Davis can opt out of his contract if he's not brought ...
