Adam Clendening, Brandon Saad drafted

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Chicago Blackhawks took a defenseman and a winger with their two picks in the second round of the 2011 NHL draft.

With pick No. 36, the Hawks selected blueliner Adam Clendening from Boston University. Clendening described himself as a "smart, puck moving defenseman" who can quarterback the power play.

With the No. 43 overall pick, the Hawks took forward Brandon Saad, a rare homegrown product of Pittsburgh, who played for the Saginaw Spirit (OHL) last season. ...
