Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Thursday that right-handed pitcher Rich Harden will miss his start on Monday and possibly a second start on Sept. 26 in San Francisco.

Piniella said the team is giving Harden a rest, and that there's nothing physically wrong with the pitcher, who is coming off two substandard starts.

Harden is a free agent after the season.
