The Chicago Cubs are considering moving to a new spring training facility in Florida or Arizona, ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine reported.

New Cubs owner Tom Ricketts and his family, along with team president Crane Kenney, are touring as many as three possible sites in the Phoenix area via helicopter Wednesday, team sources told Levine.

The Cubs have a clause in their contract with the team's current spring training home, Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., that would allow them to opt out of their contract after the 2011 spring training season.

According to sources, a business group in Naples, Fla., is also trying to lure the Ricketts family and the Cubs away from Mesa, which has served as the team's spring home since 1979.

Sources said the Cubs are seeking state-of-the-art, year-round facilities that would include at least three major league-quality fields, much like the new complex built for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox in Glendale, Ariz.

The Cubs will insist that the ballpark must have similar dimensions and many of the physical characteristics of Wrigley Field, Levine reported.
