ATLANTA -- Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella will be watching Monday night's NCAA national championship game, and said he sent Butler coach Brad Stevens good-luck wishes against Duke.

"I sent him a little note wishing him well," Piniella said. "I heard he's a Cubs fan."

Told that Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is a Chicago native and also a Cubs fan, Piniella chuckled.

"Oh, how about that?" he said.

Told then that Krzyzewski made a crack about his team not being the New York Yankees, but that he was grateful they weren't the Cubs either, Piniella laughed.

"Look, a Cubs fan's a Cubs fan," he said. "It'll be a good game tonight and I'm looking forward to watching the championship game."
