Sore quad sidelines Aramis Ramirez

CHICAGO -- Aramis Ramirez was scheduled to meet with team doctors on Monday to check out the severity of the soreness in his right quad.

Ramirez missed the series opener with Houston, and the length of his absence is uncertain.

According to sources close to Ramirez, the third baseman will most likely be back for the weekend series against Milwaukee.

Ramirez, who homered for the second straight game before leaving Sunday's 18-5 loss to the Mets, was replaced by veteran infielder Jeff Baker in the starting lineup as the Cubs and Astros met in a Labor Day matinee at Wrigley Field.

Ramirez's 22 home runs tie him with Alfonso Soriano for the team lead and his 73 RBIs lead the Cubs.
