Washington Nationals third base coach Pat Listach will join Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade as his bench coach, according to two major league sources.

The hiring of Listach, 43, who managed in the Cubs' system with Triple-A Iowa, completes the coaching staff. An administrative coach filling the role that Matt Sinatro had in 2010 will be named along with Listach after the World Series.

The Commissioner's office prefers all baseball announcements wait until the World Series concludes. The Cubs declined comment.

Listach, a former rookie of the year middle infielder for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1992, will more than likely take over the infield instructor job held by former bench coach Alan Trammell, who left the Cubs for the same position with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The hiring of Listach also goes along with chairman Tom Ricketts' philosophy of keeping continuity between young players coming up in the system and the Cubs coaching staff.

Listach worked under former Cubs manager Jim Riggleman in Washington. The Nationals announced last week that Riggleman would return as manager after increasing Washington's win total from 59 to 69 and a third straight last-place finish in the National League East.
