MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs infielder Augie Ojeda, who has been sidelined 10 days with back spasms, will have an epidural procedure performed by doctors on Monday, according to the player.

The procedure will be done between two vertebra, and Ojeda expects to be back on the field within 2-3 days.
Infielder Darwin Barney has had a sensational spring and has all but won the backup shortstop job that he had been competing for with Ojeda, who has had just eight at-bats in seven games this spring.
Ojeda signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on Jan. 26. Although contractually obligated, it's uncertain whether the 36-year-old Ojeda would accept a minor league assignment.
