Apparently, the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose is gaining quite a national following.

The second-year guard cracked the top five of the NBA's top-selling jerseys, ranking fourth based on sales at the NBA Store in New York City and NBAStore.com since the start of this season.

Rose, the reigning rookie of the year, is ahead of the Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade and trails the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, the Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard.

"That's an honor just to be in that company. Right now I'm speechless," Rose said. "I can't wait to get on the phone and tell my mom. I know she'll be happy for me. My marketing team's been great. My family's been doing a good job marketing me, making sure everything is all positive. My friends, they've been doing a great job. My brothers, everybody's been doing good."

Bryant has had the top-selling jersey since the start of the 2008-09 season. The Lakers also top the NBA in merchandise sales. The Bulls rank fifth.

Rose, who was 11th in jersey sales last season, leads the Bulls in scoring with 19.0 points a game and 5.9 assists.

"Chicago is one of the top franchises and Derrick's rookie of the year," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said. "A young kid with a great fan base in a big sports city. That [news] doesn't surprise me at all. He's just going to continue to elevate his game as he works and understands things."
