Rose plays; Noah sits again

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Derrick Rose started Tuesday night against the New York Knicks. Joakim Noah, meanwhile, sat again.

Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said the team has discussed sitting Noah for a few more games as he continues to be hampered by plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

"His foot's a little bit sore," Del Negro said Tuesday morning. "So we'll probably be a little bit cautious and get him some rest, but I want to wait and see."

Noah missed the last four games before the All-Star break because of the injury.

"We're going to look at that," Del Negro said of the possibility of sitting Noah for a longer period of time. "Just give him some more rest for the next two, three, four, five [games]. It just depends. The plantar fasciitis is very difficult [to get rid of]. He's feeling better. He's not where he'd like to be and we want to be smart about it."

Rose, who missed practice on Monday because of a hip bruise, gave it a go. He scored 29 points in Chicago's 118-85 win Tuesday.

"He's not 100 percent," Del Negro said before the game. "He's a little bit sore, but he got his work in this morning and he's feeling a little bit better."

Rose was injured on Wednesday when he drove for a layup and was fouled by the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard, who dropped Rose flat on his back. An X-ray in the United Center showed no structural damage, and that was confirmed by the MRI.

Rose did not defend his Skills Challenge title during All-Star festivities on Saturday in Dallas, but he did play 15 minutes during Sunday's game, scoring eight points to go with four assists and three steals.
