Bulls talk to Turner about vacancy

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls began their coaching interview process Thursday by talking to Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner, ESPNChicago.com has confirmed.

NBA.com first reported that according to sources Turner interviewed with the Bulls for four hours.

Turner had told a Houston television station on May 13 that he would interview with the Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers, who agreed to terms with Doug Collins on Friday, according to ESPN.com.

ESPNChicago.com reported Monday that the Bulls were planning to interview candidates during the NBA draft combine, which is being held in Chicago.

Turner, 50, has been an assistant with the Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers. He's been considered for head coaching jobs with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns.

He played for the Bulls from 1986 to 1988.
