Pete Myers will not return to the Chicago Bulls as an assistant to new head coach Tom Thibodeau, but he will have a role in the organization, according to a source familiar with the situation.

"It hurts a little bit, but I think he should be somewhere around," Bulls All-Star guard Derrick Rose said Thursday. "Pete is a guy where if it wasn't for him I don't where I'd be in this league.

"He always is there, brings life to that organization and it hurt a little bit."

Myers has been with the Bulls organization as an assistant or scout for 11 years, and he coached their summer-league team. He served as interim head coach for two games in November 2003.

As a player, Myers spent three of his eight NBA seasons with the Bulls and has the distinction of becoming the starting shooting guard in 1993-94 after Michael Jordan retired.
