Forward Carlos Boozer also missed his third consecutive game with a sprained left ankle.
"He's doing well," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said of Boozer. "The swelling's almost gone. He's doing more and more each day. But we want to be smart about it. We want to make sure he's completely ready to go."
Kurt Thomas started in place of Boozer. He scored eight points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Chicago's 98-79 win.
Boozer is considered day to day, but considering the Bulls face sub-.500 teams this week in the Pacers and the Nets, there may not be a rush to get him back on the court. Boozer will travel with the Bulls to New Jersey and Indiana.
"He's that close," Thibodeau said. "It's any day, so but again, we don't want the [injury] to be reoccurring. We want to make sure he strengthens the ankle enough and everything's good. And he's doing great."
