Only two Chicago-area products were selected in the NBA draft on Thursday.

Iman Shumpert, who played at Oak Park High School, was taken by the New York Knicks with the 17th overall pick in the first round. Shumpert, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 17.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals as a junior for Georgia Tech last season.

DeAndre Liggins, who played at Washington High School in Chicago, was selected by the Orlando Magic as the No. 53 overall pick in the second round. Liggins, a 6-7 guard, averaged 8.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals as a junior at Kentucky last season.

Illinois point guard Demetri McCamey and forward Jereme Richmond were the most notable local players not to be drafted. Both were considered at one time potential first-round picks.
