Northwestern Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald increased his in-state recruiting class for 2011 to three over the weekend with Waubonsie Valley 6-3, 230-pound tight end Mark Szott.
"He has great character, great work ethic," Waubonsie Valley coach Paul Murphy said. "He's one of the best tight ends I've ever coached in 32 years of coaching. God blessed him with size and speed. He works hard in the weight room."
Szott also had offers from Air Force, Ball State, Central Michigan, Furman, Illinois State, Marshall and Northern Illinois.
Szott joins Walter Lutheran safety Sean Cotton and Richards defensive back Jarrell Williams in Northwestern's 2011 in-state class.
Loyola defensive end Chance Carter was the Wildcats' sole 2010 in-state recruit.
