Bandits beat Pride
KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Chicago Bandits rookie catcher Jamie Schloredt once again came through in the clutch Friday, blasting a two-run homer to deep center field to help the Bandits beat USSSA Pride 3-1 in 12 innings.
Chicago pitcher Brandice Balschmiter closed out the bottom of the 12th inning, earning her second win and giving the Bandits a 14-3 record on the season.
Bandits right fielder Nicole Trimboli blasted an RBI single through the right side of the infield in the top of the fourth to start the scoring. The Pride's Monica Abbott then forced a pitching duel with the Bandits' Kristina Thorson.
In the bottom of the seventh, Thorson put the Pride's Shannon Doepking on base after an errant pitch drilled her in the back. LaDonia Hughes then smashed a single to left field to score Doepking and tie the game at 1-1.
The two teams will continue their series Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Chicago time.
