AKRON, Ohio -- Bandits pitcher Jennie Finch struck out 14, but the Chicago Bandits were upset on Saturday in their bid for the National Professional Fastpitch title as the USSSA Pride toppled Chicago 2-0.
The Pride got to Finch early before she was able to settle in an coast through the second half of the game. In the top of the second inning, Finch walked designated player Oli Keohohou to start the inning. Third baseman Sara Larquier bounced a it through to left field to score pinch runner Aimee Lonigro, who ran for Keohohou. Right fielder Kelly Kretschman led off the top of the third inning with a home run down the right field line.
Pride pitcher Monica Abbott struck out eight in the complete-game victory. Abbott surrendered only four hits and three walks in the game. Finch surrendered two runs on five hits and three walks.
