Peavy 'probable' for Yankees?
Major League Baseball runs team Web sites.
After a call to the White Sox from ESPNChicago.com, Peavy was taken down as the probable and replaced by "To be announced."
The following excerpt remains in the "Scouting Report" section for Saturday's game:
"How's this for a marquee matchup -- Jake Peavy vs. CC Sabathia? Although this move has not been made official quite yet by the White Sox, Peavy looks in line to make his first White Sox start Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium against New York's staff ace. Jose Contreras officially was dropped from the rotation to the bullpen following Monday's rough start at Fenway Park, when Contreras yielded seven runs (one earned) over 2 2/3 innings, and Peavy threw five scoreless innings during Minor League rehab start No. 3 for Triple-A Charlotte on the same evening. If Peavy bounces back nicely from the start, including no after-effects from taking a line drive off of his pitching elbow, then he should be on the mound Saturday. If not, the White Sox also have Minor League standouts such as Daniel Hudson and Carlos Torres as options."
Peavy will join the White Sox on Tuesday in Boston to discuss his situation with manager Ozzie Guillen, pitching coach Don Cooper and trainer Herm Schneider, who will examine the elbow.
"We haven't set any definite plans," Peavy said after his Triple-A start with Charlotte in the International League on Monday. "That is the bottom line.
"We haven't set a hard date. People have speculated on dates. But we're just taking it start by start. I don't know how sore my elbow will be. Obviously, that could be a factor. We'll see."
