The Chicago Wolves put an end to their seven-game losing streak in a big way Saturday. The host Wolves (7-11-1-0) jumped out to a five-goal lead and then held on to beat the Houston Aeros 5-2.
Center Jared Ross led the way with a goal and two assists. Right wing Spencer Machacek and center Jason Krog both chipped in a goal and an assist each.
Meanwhile, Wolves goalie Peter Mannino (2-3-0) shut out the Aeros for the first 52 minutes, 33 seconds of the game. He ended the night with 25 saves.
"It was nice to see us get some breaks, but we got very solid goaltending from Peter and it all starts from there," Wolves coach Don Lever said. "We had a long, long road trip and now we can breathe a sigh of relief and hopefully get back to playing the way we can play."
The Wolves play host to the Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday.
