Bears elect Robbie Gould

The Chicago Bears on Wednesday unanimously voted kicker Robbie Gould as the team's new NFL Players Association representative, a position currently held by veteran linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer.

Gould served as an alternate for the past year.

Hillenmeyer pushed for his teammates to elect a new player representative after he was placed on injured reserve September 14 due to a concussion. Players on IR tend not to be around the facility every day. Because of the NFL labor uncertainty, it is important the Bears' player rep be with the team at all times.

The Bears voted unanimously on Wednesday to allow the NFLPA to decertify if there's a lockout next year.
