Brian Urlacher earns 7th Pro Bowl nod

Four members of the Chicago Bears -- Lance Briggs, Devin Hester, Julius Peppers and Brian Urlacher -- will play for the NFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl, the team announced Tuesday.

Of that group, all four players have been selected to at least two previous Pro Bowls.

Urlacher leads the team in getting the honor for the seventh time. Urlacher has team highs with 141 tackles and 11 tackles for a loss. He has also been effective defending the pass, with 3.5 sacks, an interception and 13 pass breakups. Urlacher is the eighth player in Bears' history to get selected to seven Pro Bowls.

In spite of missing two games, Briggs earned his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl nod. He is second on the team with 113 tackles and seven tackles for a loss. Briggs also has two sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles for one of the NFL's top defenses.

Peppers, the team's biggest offseason acquisition, will play in his first Pro Bowl as a Bear. He was selected five times as a member of the Carolina Panthers. Peppers has eight sacks, six tackles for a loss and seven pass breakups. The honor means he will receive a $200,000 bonus, according to league sources.

Hester, who earlier this season set the NFL's record for career returns for touchdowns with 14, will be playing in his first Pro Bowl since 2008. The selection is his third overall. On the season, he has returned three punts for touchdowns and has nine punt returns of more than 20 yards. In spot duty on kick returns, he has five returns of more than 40 yards.

The Pro Bowl will be played Jan. 30 in Honolulu.
