LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Several veteran players were given the day off as the Chicago Bears practiced one final time Thursday before embarking on a three-day weekend.

Center Olin Kreutz, guard Roberto Garza, linebacker Nick Roach (shoulder), safety Major Wright (lower leg), receiver Earl Bennett (ankle), safety Chris Harris and tight end Brandon Manumaleuna appeared to be sitting out the abbreviated workout.

The Bears, who received a bye as the No. 2 seed in the NFC, will reconvene Monday at Halas Hall to begin preparations for their fist playoff game Jan. 16 at Soldier Field.

Jeff Dickerson covers the Bears for ESPNChicago.com and ESPN 1000.
