Jon Hoke unlikely to join brother

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- As new University of Michigan football coach Brady Hoke assembles his staff, there's a good chance his older brother, Jon Hoke, won't be joining him.

The defensive backs coach for the Chicago Bears, Jon Hoke said he hasn't spoken to his brother, who was officially introduced by Michigan on Wednesday, about leaving the NFL to join the Wolverines.

There's no need to.

"Really, we have never talked about it," Jon Hoke said. "He knows how I feel about pro football. He knows it's always been a dream of mine to coach in the National Football League. He knows I'm extremely happy here in Chicago."

Having spent seven seasons with the Houston Texans (2002-2008) before joining the Bears in 2009, Jon Hoke said the enthusiasm and passion displayed by Brady Hoke is genuine. Jon Hoke said he and his brother are similar in that passion, yet the two display it in different ways.

"I'm that way," Jon Hoke said. "Players, they would be the ones to ask more than asking me. But what you see with Brady is what you get, and he's consistent. He's that way every day. He has a great passion for the University of Michigan; always has. Everybody can say they should've gotten this guy or that guy. Trust me: at the end of the day, they got the right guy."
