Three goals in first spook Wolves

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Chicago Wolves allowed three goals in a 2:33 span in the first period on Saturday as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Texas Stars.

Right wing Anthony Stewart notched the lone goal for Chicago in the third period when Stars goaltender Brent Krahn gave up a huge rebound. The Wolves (3-6-0-1) lost in regulation for the first time in four games.

Texas (7-2-0-2) opened the scoring at 14:47 of the first period when center Perttu Lindgren's scored on the rebound after his pass attempt bounced off a Wolves defenseman.

The Stars added another goal just 67 seconds later when center Aaron Gagnon's pass from the end line ricocheted off of the side of the Wolves' net, and Francis Wathier slipped the puck past Chicago goaltender Manny Legace. Texas then went up 3-0 when left wing Landon Wilson shot the puck past Lagace at the 17:20 mark.

Wilson then scored his second goal of the game at 12:37 in the second period when he ripped a shot from the blue line that beat Legace top shelf.

Legace saved 14 of 18 shots in 40 minutes of action, while Peter Mannino posted eight saves in 19:52 of relief duty. For his part, Krahn turned aside 30 shots.

The Wolves will take on the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
