Blackhawks sign 6-8 enforcer Scott

The Chicago Blackhawks made it official Friday by signing rugged defenseman John Scott to a two-year contract.

ESPNChicago.com's Jesse Rogers reported Thursday that the sides had agreed to a deal worth $500,000 annually.

The 6-8, 258-pound Scott played in a career-high 51 games with the Minnesota Wild last season, notching 90 penalty minutes, which was second-most on the club. Scott has played as both a defenseman and forward during his two NHL seasons.

Scott, 27, will fill in a toughness void for the Stanley Cup champions, who traded Ben Eager and let Adam Burish go via free agency.
