Chicago signs Kitchen; Haviland back
The 54-year-old Kitchen was one of Joel Quenneville's assistants with the St. Louis Blues from 1998-2003, and Kitchen was the Blues' head coach for parts of three seasons. The pair also were teammates on the Colorado Rockies and New Jersey Devils from 1979 to 1983.
The Blackhawks also re-signed assistant coach Mike Haviland.
"Adding Mike Kitchen and bringing back Mike Haviland bolster what is already a tremendous coaching staff under Joel's guidance," Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said in a statement.
