Blackhawks sign five players
The signings come a day after the Blackhawks secured right wing Igor Makarov to a two-year contract.
Brophey, 23, who was a third-round selection by the Blackhawks in the 2005 draft, had 14 goals, 17 assists, and 39 penalty minutes in 79 games with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs last season.
Davis, 24, also a 2005 draft pick by the Blackhawks, recorded eight goals, three assists, and a +7 plus/minus rating in 23 games with Rockford before he was sidelined for the last four months of the season because of an injury.
Jessiman, 26, scored a career-high 20 goals and 42 points for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals last season. Cullimore, 38, a veteran of 776 NHL games -- including two seasons with the Blackhawks -- had two goals, eight assists, and 52 penalty minutes in 59 games with the IceHogs last season.
Toivonen, 25, acquired by the Blackhawks in March in a trade with the St. Louis Blues, was 1-4-0 with a 3.44 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage in six games with the IceHogs. He was a first-round draft choice of the Boston Bruins in 2002.
Makarov, 22, was the Blackhawks' second pick (33rd overall) in the 2006 draft and spent last season with Moscow Dynamo and St. Petersburg SKA of the Kontinental Hockey League.
