Cristobal Huet in talks with Swiss team
"We've talked, but it's not definitive at this point," said Huet's agent, Stephen Bartlett. "We'll know if it will happen probably in the next couple of days."
Huet was one of many salary cap casualties for the Stanley Cup champions. Huet is due to make $5.6 million per season over the next two years. The Hawks still will have to pay the salary, but it won't count against their salary cap if Huet plays in Europe or in the minors.
Bartlett was appreciative of the Blackhawks for allowing him to find the best situation possible. Huet is a native of France, and his family still resides in Europe.
Huet played in 48 games for the Hawks last season, going 26-14 with a 2.50 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage.
The Swiss news site "20 Minutes Online" first reported Huet is headed to Fribourg-Gotteron.
