Hossa, who missed five games earlier this season with an upper body injury, had to be helped off the ice Monday after the collision. The Blackhawks recalled forward Jeremy Morin from AHL Rockford on Tuesday to take his place on the roster.
"Things happen like that," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday of the collision. "It can happen away from the game, too, so it's all part of it. You deal with. It's an opportunity for Morin to come up and hopefully he can take advantage of the chance and the challenge. We'll just go from there."
Morin, 19, made his NHL debut Nov. 6 against the Atlanta Thrashers. He leads Rockford with six goals.
"I think I'm a little more comfortable out there," Morin said. "The first time was a little more nerves and excitement. There is still a little bit more of that, definitely, but getting my feet wet was a good experience for me and hopefully I learn from it."
Going into Tuesday night's game, the Blackhawks are one regulation home loss away from matching the total they had all of last season.
