CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane will miss up to three weeks with a lower body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

"We're hoping [three weeks is] the maximum," said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, who wouldn't specify if it's Kane's ankle. "We'll leave it as a lower body. You can speculate where it is. That's the extent of it. He's progressing right now."

Kane suffered the injury Sunday against the Calgary Flames when he spun away from a check and fell awkwardly against the boards. The injury happened during his first shift and he missed the remainder of the game.

This will be the first extended absence due to injury for the 22-year-old Kane, who has 11 goals and 16 assists.
