CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks are "hopeful" to have winger Patrick Kane available for Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Wild after Kane missed his second consecutive practice Tuesday.

Kane has flu-like symptoms, but he is recovering.

"He felt better today," coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday. "The same progress from yesterday to today to tomorrow should be [enough]. He wants to play. Hopefully he'll be able to."

Quenneville called Kane's symptoms "comparable" to what Marian Hossa and Jake Dowell recently experienced. Both missed a game on the Blackhawks' just-completed road trip.

"I'm not sure what [Kane] has, but he was throwing up, too, so I think it's a similar virus or whatever you call it," Hossa said. "It's not pleasant. Seems like the team is going through it."

Hossa threw up between periods in Edmonton last Wednesday before missing Friday's game against Dallas. Dowell was back at practice Tuesday after missing Saturday's game in Phoenix and Monday's practice.

Kane has 46 points in 47 games played this season. He missed time earlier in the year with the flu as well as an ankle sprain.

The Blackhawks are four points behind the Calgary Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Wild are one point behind Calgary.
