Dave Bolland doubtful for Caps game
Bolland left the game in the first period after getting elbowed by Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina.
No penalty was called, but Kubina was suspended three games by the league Thursday.
"I wasn't happy with the hit," coach Joel Quenneville said after practice Friday. "We [didn't] get any benefit out of it. We lose a player, we don't get a power play off of it. It was a dangerous hit. I wasn't happy with the hit at all."
With all of the focus on head injuries in the NHL, Quenneville said this was a hit that wasn't necessary.
"I would say when you look at it, it's probably exactly the type of hit they don't want in the game," he said.
Defenseman Brian Campbell is day to day but Quenneville said he is improving.
Campbell has a leg injury that kept him out of Wednesday's game, despite going through warm-ups. He might practice Saturday in advance of the game against the Capitals.
