Woodstock quarterback Logan Kunzie vs. Glenbard South in Class 5A: Kunzie threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns in the Blue Streaks' narrow win.

Glenbard North linebacker Pat Maxwell vs. Downers Grove South in Class 8A: The Panthers' defense was ferocious against Downers Grove South, allowing 152 yards and three points. Maxwell had several tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Glenbard West defensive back Cody Olsen vs. St. Charles North in Class 7A: Glenbard West had a variety of defensive players step up, forcing six turnovers and allowing 12 points. Olsen was responsible for two of those turnovers with a pair of picks.

Montini quarterback Brandon Pechloff vs. Sycamore in Class 5A: Pechloff threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns to lead Montini into the semifinals.

Maine South running back Matt Perez vs. Glenbrook South in Class 8A: Perez burned Glenbrook South for 300-plus rushing yards and four touchdowns again. After running for 341 yards and four touchdowns the first time around, he ran for 314 yards and four scores in Saturday's 44-23 win over the Titans.

Marist quarterback Mike Perish vs. Fremd in Class 8A: Perish is putting together a memorable postseason. In Saturday's win over previously undefeated Fremd, he completed 23-of-31 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown.

Marist defensive back Dave Pirkle vs. Fremd in Class 8A: Pirkle intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble in the RedHawks' win.

Loyola kicker Leo Sheridan vs. Mount Carmel in Class 8A: A part-time football kicker and a full-time soccer player, Sheridan set a new state record Saturday by connecting on five field goals. His 47-yarder was a new career high.

Wheaton Warrenville South punter Mack Tracey vs. St. Rita in Class 7A: Tracey wasn't a punter to start the season, but in the quarterfinals he pinned St. Rita inside its 5-yard line twice, kicked a career-high 60-yard punt and never allowed the Mustangs favorable field position on any of his five punts.
