Coaches: Fournette is 2015's Herschel Walker

Hot Board: Predictions for top recruits

The Week 6 Hot Board includes two players coveted by surging Michigan -- Caleb Kelly and Quayshon Alexander -- as well as Derrick Brown, an important guest for this week's Georgia/Tennessee game.

Manning: 'Tennessee has great fans'

Broncos QB Peyton Manning will never forget his time as a Vol. Said Manning: "They know when to get quiet. … They know when to get loud. ... They show up every Saturday for their teams.”

Polk runs it in for the TD

Brandon Polk hauls in his second TD of the season to put points on the board for Penn State early. The Nittany Lions are tied with the Hoosiers 7-7.

Johnson with strong run to put Texas up

Marcus Johnson worked a 24-yard run down the sideline as Texas took the 7-0 lead over No. 10 Oklahoma on ABC. It's just the second game this season in which the Longhorns held a first-quarter lead

Vaughn runs it in for Illinois

The Illini answered back quick with a rushing TD by Ke'Shawn Vaughn. The Illini lead the Hawkeyes 7-6 on ESPN2.

Upset alert in Lawrence? Kansas, a 46-point underdog, had tied it up 7-7 with No. 3 Baylor on Steven Sims' 36-yard touchdown catch. Good to see David Beaty's Jayhawks aren't giving up early.

Maryland scores first against Ohio State

For the third time in the past four games, Ohio State opponents scored first. The Buckeyes have trailed in the first quarter in both of its Big Ten games this season -- they did so once in Big Ten play last season. Maryland leads 7-0 midway through the first quarter. Follow live

Kittle runs in first TD for Iowa

Hawkeyes QB C.J. Beathard made a deep pass to George Kittle, who dashed 21 yards for a TD. Iowa is up 6-0 over Illinois on ESPN2.

Charlie Strong doesn't need to beat Oklahoma today to solidify his tenure at Texas. But he can't afford to get run out of the Cotton Bowl, either. Given the infighting in the locker room, this feels like a fork-in-the-road game for the Longhorns. If they no-show for a second straight week, the season could really spiral. Conversely, if they hang tough, even if they don't win, that could give Strong something to build off of going forward.

Perfect fall day expected at Kinnick Stadium for Illinois at Iowa today. Sunshine with a temperature of 62 degrees at kickoff and up to 68 by the end of the game, according to Accuweather.

Jesse Temple ESPN Staff Writer

Kickoff temperature for tonight's Michigan State-Rutgers game will be near 54 degrees, according to AccuWeather. Wind won't be much of a factor. Spartans will try to keep rolling one week before a big in-state matchup against Michigan at The Big House.

Is Clemson overlooking Georgia Tech?

Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit are confident in Clemson today, but according to Lee Corso: "Georgia Tech is going to explode and win this game."

Corso's pick: 'Give me Swoop!"

Trying to avoid a fifth straight wrong pick, Lee Corso picked No. 5 Utah to beat No. 23 Cal.

Illinois at (22) Iowa on ESPN2

This is the first time the Fighting Illini have headed to play at Kinnick Stadium since 2007, and they haven't won there since 1999. The Hawkeyes are ranked for the first time since 2010 thanks to QB CJ Beathard, who is completing 64.1% of his passes this season. ESPN2/WatchESPN

(10) Oklahoma at Texas on ABC

With the 1-4 start from the Longhorns, this could be a cakewalk for the Sooners, right? Not so fast. Texas is 5-2 when unranked and facing the ranked Oklahoma team, including a 36-20 win just two years ago when the Sooners were No. 12. ABC/WatchESPN

New Mexico St. at Ole Miss on SEC Network

Despite its performance vs. Florida, Ole Miss is still No. 5 in ESPN's FPI, led by Chad Kelly, who leads the SEC in pass YPG. The Aggies are trying to win their first-ever game against an SEC opponent, bringing in an 0-18 record. SEC Network/WatchESPN

Gene Wojciechowski on Miami-FSU rivalry

Wojciechowski took an inside look at what makes the Miami-Florida State rivalry so meaningful: "Nearly 500 miles separate the campuses, but nothing separates their contempt for one another."

Kyle Whittingham: Wilson has confidence

The Utah coach says QB Travis Wilson has complete command of the offense: "He’s playing with a great deal of confidence and poise."

Wackiest plays from CFB Week 5

David Pollack and Samantha Ponder took a look back at the past week of college football -- and there was a lot of dancing from a security guard, a specific Northwestern player and a bunch of kids.

GameDay: USC's slide will continue

The crew believes it will get worse at USC before it gets better. Said Desmond Howard: "This will be Coach Sarkisian's toughest year as a head coach. I think they lose two more games."

Is Utah the best team in the country?

"No question about it," Lee Corso said. "Here's the key thing: They beat a good Michigan team, and that's Michigan's only loss."

Butch Jones: 'VolNation wants a win'

Tennessee coach Butch Jones told SEC Nation nobody wants to win more than he does: “We have to learn how to make critical plays at critical stages of the game.”

How will South Carolina handle LSU?

Lee Corso thinks South Carolina is going to get beat badly at LSU, but Kirk Herbstreit thinks the Gamecocks are going to compete.

Steve Spurrier hopes to stop Fournette

The South Carolina coach's game plan for facing LSU is to stay on RB Leonard Fournette: “Try to tackle him before he gets past the line of scrimmage.”

Will OK-State remain unbeaten vs. WVU?

Kirk Herbstreit thinks so, as Oklahoma State is "a quiet 5-0. ... A lot of people were so focused on TCU and Baylor and maybe even Oklahoma in the Big 12. They're that forgotten team."
