FSU DB back 2 years after stomach rupture

Jared Shanker writes: "Trey Marshall was pleading with doctors to sedate him. Minutes earlier he had been wildly swinging at trainers and biting his coach’s collar as he laid on a HS football field in Tallahassee. Now, he just wanted relief from the intense pain in his stomach. Doctors told Marshall’s mother the stomach 'literally burst like a balloon.'" Long road back

Fournette's path to SEC best season

Assuming LSU plays a 12-game schedule, Leonard Fournette would have to average 128.4 yards per game over the remaining eight games to top Herschel Walker’s SEC season record (1,891 rush yards). He’d need 220.5 yards/game to tie Barry Sanders’ FBS record (2,628 in 1988). Can he do it?

Auburn WR D'haquille Williams has been dismissed from the team. "When individuals fail to meet the expectations of our program, there has to be consequences," Gus Malzahn said. Williams had 12 receptions, 147 yards and one TD through the first five games.

Saban lashes out at media

Alabama coach Nick Saban when asked about what advice his gives his players on the noise surrounding the program: "Well I say the same thing as when you all buried us last week and all that. That it really doesn't matter what you think. ... Cause if it was up to you, we're six-feet under already. We're dead and buried and gone. Gone!"

Recruiters thought ESPN Junior 300 OL Jack Anderson was Texas Tech's to lose, but still getting him to commit Monday is a big deal for the program. Anderson is one of the best interior linemen to come out of Texas in years, and he's the type of prospect that will help the Red Raiders lure other top recruits in the 2016 and 2017 classes.

What kind of season is Baylor WR Corey Coleman having? Off 24 receptions, he has 11 TDs, which leads the country by a full 3 TDs. The Bears have enjoyed some talented WRs under coach Art Briles. Coleman has a chance to rank at the very top.

It appears the door is open for Missouri true freshman QB Drew Lock to make his case to be the long-term starter. Gary Pinkel said Monday that Maty Mauk's suspension is indefinite and wouldn't specify details. Lock was 21-of-28 passing for 136 yards and 2 TDs in his starting debut, a 24-10 win over South Carolina. Now he gets the tall task of taking on 5-0 Florida and that tough defense. Lock might be the future, but is the future now for Mizzou?

Hugh Freeze is hoping to hear something on Laremy Tunsil's status this week. The Ole Miss OT has sat out the first six games while awaiting word from the NCAA. "He's handled it as well as anybody could, but he's antsy. He's just hopeful for a finality to it, as are we."

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer has been cleared to practice this week after breaking his collarbone against Ohio State and missing the last four games. The school said his status against NC State on Friday "could potentially be a game-time decision."

As if Kansas didn't already have its work cut out facing Baylor as a 41-point underdog this weekend, the Jayhawks announced Monday that QB Montell Cozart is out indefinitely with a shoulder sprain and that his backup, Deondre Ford, will miss the rest of the season with a thumb injury. At least now the Jayhawks will get a good look at whether true freshman Ryan Willis can be the future at QB.

Ohio State offensive lineman Billy Price had a simple message for anybody worried that the defending champions are losing their way: "I think everybody just needs to relax," he said. "We will handle our business."
