Reaction to medication benches Butler

DALLAS -- A negative reaction to medication sidelined Dallas Mavericks guard Caron Butler for Wednesday night's Western Conference showdown against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The newly acquired Butler took the medication Tuesday and did not participate in the team's morning shootaround Wednesday. He was at the American Airlines Center and hoped to play but decided against it less than two hours before tipoff.
